Overview

Yoshida Kinemon Shoten is a long-established sake shop located in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture, having been engaged in sake brewing since the 4th year of the Meiji era (1871).
The store is situated in Sano-cho, Fukui City, and operates from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM; however, the days off are irregular, so it is recommended to check in advance before visiting.
There are no specific transportation instructions, but the place is loved by both locals and tourists.
This sake shop pursues the original umami and beauty of Japanese sake, using locally sourced rice that is milled in-house.
In particular, they carefully select contract-farmed rice varieties such as Yamada Nishiki and Gohyakumangoku, and by making small batches of the mash, they offer high-quality junmai sake.
Among them, "Kumonoi Junmai Sake Tojinbo" is a noteworthy item.
This 720ml bottle of sake is likely sold specifically for the Tojinbo tourist area.
"Kumonoi Junmai Sake Tojinbo" uses Gohyakumangoku rice grown in Fukui Prefecture and has a polishing ratio of 68%, making it a dry sake.
With an alcohol content of less than 15-16%, it features a distinctive richness and freshness.
Unlike the current trend of light and fruity styles, this sake has a robust and powerful dry flavor, making it irresistible for sake enthusiasts.
Moreover, while it can be enjoyed chilled, warming it enhances its deeper flavors.
Yoshida Kinemon Shoten offers a variety of exquisite products, including small-batch junmai ginjo, despite its small scale.
The prices are reasonable, making it a beloved choice for many.
The sake produced from such meticulously crafted products embodies both the strength and gentleness that can withstand the rough waves of the Sea of Japan.
I highly recommend that you visit this historic brewery and enjoy its captivating sake offerings.
