    Overview

Kitanohana Sake Brewery is located in Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture, approximately 553 meters from Kitakata Station.
The brewery operates from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and it's recommended to check for irregular holidays before visiting.
There are no seating areas inside the brewery, as most visitors come primarily to purchase sake.
Founded in 1919 (Taisho 8), Kitanohana Sake Brewery has a history of over 100 years.
It started under the brand name "Hoshimasa" and later revived as "Kitanohana.
" Although it is a small brewery, it is committed to making sake using locally sourced rice.
Notable is their traditional brewing method, which involves steaming rice in a traditional handmade kettle and pressing all the sake through a lees filtering process.
One of the standout products is the "Junmai Ginjo Kitanohana," which uses rice from the Aizu region, specifically Yamadanishiki.
This sake is characterized by its gentle sweetness and fruity aroma.
Drinkers often report a pear-like fragrance, along with a fresh fruit flavor.
As such, it is considered an ideal accompaniment to meals and has received high praise from many customers.
Inside the shop, you will be greeted by a friendly proprietress, and during quieter times, tasting may be possible.
However, it is said that visitors often feel inclined to purchase after tasting, so be mindful of that.
Though the space is small, it has a somewhat spacious feel to it and may appear a bit cluttered, yet it radiates a warm atmosphere.
Kitakata City is home to dozens of sake breweries, but Kitanohana Sake Brewery stands out for its unique blend of new challenges from a younger generation with traditional techniques.
A visit here can deepen your understanding of Japanese culture and local products.
We invite you to stop by and enjoy the exquisite taste of authentic Japanese sake.
Alongside the captivating flavors, take the opportunity to explore the charm of this region's picturesque streets.
