What to Expect
You arrive in the Eiheiji area, a town in Fukui Prefecture known as the home of Eiheiji Temple, one of Japan’s most significant Zen Buddhist sites. Your guide meets you at the starting point and orients you to the evening ahead, giving you a sense of the bar scene that locals actually use.
From there, you move on foot through the area’s drinking districts, stepping into three separate bars across the evening. At each stop, you order from the menu, settle in, and engage with the local atmosphere at your own pace. Your guide navigates the transitions between venues, keeping the evening moving while leaving room for you to drink, eat, and connect with the places you visit.
By the end of the third bar, you will have worked your way through a cross-section of Eiheiji’s local drinking culture — three distinct venues, each with its own character, all within walking distance of one another. You close out the evening having covered the area on foot, drink in hand, with a local showing you where residents actually go.
