    Overview

Experience 500 Years of Basque Cider Tradition at Iparragirre

With more than 500 years of history, Iparragirre is one of the most remarkable cider houses in the Basque Country. This family-run *sagardotegi* proudly carries on a tradition passed down through generations, with a special sense of pride in its female-led family heritage, strong confidence in its history, and a passion for quality and innovation.

During the guided visit, you’ll explore the cider house and learn how natural Basque cider is made using organic apples. You can also see the historic apple press once used in the cellar, offering a glimpse into the traditional methods that shaped cider-making in the region.

Iparragirre’s philosophy is rooted in small-scale family production, local ingredients, and a deep respect for healthy, sustainable food. The restaurant uses certified Basque Country products whenever possible, making the experience not only about cider, but also about local gastronomy.

The tasting is especially generous, giving visitors the chance to try most of Iparragirre’s products. One unique highlight is their original drink made by combining cider and honey, a creative expression of their love for trying something new. Depending on the season, you may also enjoy cider poured directly from the barrel in the traditional **Txotx** style.

Authentic, organic, local, and full of character, Iparragirre offers a deeply personal introduction to Basque cider culture.
